Question 382109

{{{-x+3y=6}}} Start with the given equation.

{{{3y=6+x}}} Add {{{x}}} to both sides.

{{{3y=x+6}}} Rearrange the terms.

{{{y=(x+6)/(3)}}} Divide both sides by {{{3}}} to isolate y.

{{{y=((1)/(3))x+(6)/(3)}}} Break up the fraction.

{{{y=(1/3)x+2}}} Reduce.

So the equation {{{y=(1/3)x+2}}} is now in slope intercept form {{{y=mx+b}}} where the slope is {{{m=1/3}}} and the y-intercept is {{{b=2}}} note: the y-intercept is the point *[Tex \LARGE \left(0,2\right)]
