Question 380541
I need help doing this problem. I've tried several times but I can't get the correct answer. Write the equation that has the same x-intercept as the line -2x+3y-8=0 and is also perpendicular to the line 5x+2y-20=0.
----------------------
x-int of 2x+3y-8 = 0 ?
Let y = 0, then 2x-8 = 0
x = 4
------------------
slope of 2x+3y-8 = 0 ?
y = (-2/3)x + (8/3)
m = -2/3
----
slope of all lines perpendicular to 2x+3y-8 = 0 ?
slope = 3/2
----
Equation of the line you want:
y = (3/2)x + 4
