Hi,
the standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line y = mx + b  
where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.  
y=8x-10  is in slope-intercept form  m = 8
Parallel lines have identical slopes: 
the slope of the line parallel to y=8x-10?  
the slope of that line is m = 8  as well
