Question 371647
what is the answer to the following equation using the substitution: x=3y-1, x+2y=9 please show work!!

Subsititute x = 3y-1 in the equation x+2y=9
(3y-1) + 2y = 9
Combine like terms
         5y = 9+1
          y = 10/5
          y = 2

So x = 3(2) - 1
   x = 5

The answer is
y = 2
x = 5
