Question 365075
"The turns ratio of a transformer is the ratio of the number of turns on the secondary winding to the number of turns on the primary winding. If the number of turns on the primary winding is 240, find the number of turns on the socondary winding to give turns ratio of 16:3.

I have been staring at this question for about 15 minutes now. I have no idea where to even begin."

turns ratio transformer --> turns secondary winding to turns primary winding

if ratio is 16:3 then it should be 16 turns on the secondary winding to 3 turns on the primary winding

so that should be 5 1/3 turns secondary to 1 turn primary

so if 240 turns primary:

240 * 16/3 = 1/3 * 240 * 16 = 80 * 16 = 1280 turns secondary

1280:240 --> if divide both sides ratio by 80 --> 16:3
