Question 363923
1. I need to complete the following table by determining the value of each letter.
2. I need to determine an equation that may be used to relate the numbers in the range with those in the domain.
X: 3,9,4,6,7,C,D
Y: 5,23,8,A,B,11,2
I really don't understand how to complete this... I've tried and haven't gotten very far. please explain verbally, numerically, and if possible...graphically. thank you!!!
--------
Put the "X" numbers in order, keeping the corresponding pairs as they are given.
X: 3,4,-,6,7,-,9
Y: 5,8,_,A,B,_,23
----
Notice as x increases 1 from 3 to 4 ,y increases by 3 from 5 to 8.
Since 4 to 6 is an increase of 2, 8 to A is 2*3 = 6.
So A = 8+6 = 14
Then B = 14+3 = 17
--------------------
You could also use (3,5) and (4,9) to generate an equation.
Then you would find f(6) = 14 and f(6)=17
