Question 5098
A clever trick is to factor the denominator and reduce the fraction first.

{{{6/(2(1+2i)) }}} = {{{3/(1+2i)}}}

Now multiply numerator and denominator by the conjugate of the denominator, which is 1-2i.

{{{3/ (1+2i) * (1-2i ) /(1-2i)}}}

{{{ (3 - 6i) / (1 - 4i^2)}}}, where {{{i^2 = -1}}}

{{{ (3 - 6i)/5}}}

{{{3/5 - (6/5) i }}}

This is the old way to solve the problem. It is MUCH easier with a graphing calculator!!
