Use the slope formula:

where *[tex \Large \left(x_1,y_1\right)] and *[tex \Large \left(x_2,y_2\right)] are the coordinates of the given points.


Note that the slope exists as long as the denominator is not zero.  The only way for the denominator to be zero is if the *[tex \LARGE x]-coordinates of the two points are equal.
