If you had written (3/5)y = 6, then it would have been clear that you meant *[tex \Large \frac{3}{5}y\ =\ 6]



If you had written 3/(5y) = 6, then it would have been clear that you meant *[tex \Large \frac{3}{5y}\ =\ 6]


But the way you wrote it, your meaning is ambiguous.  Re-write your question so that it is clear what you want.
