Question 358047
<font face="Garamond" size="+2">

<i>"Is the equation 2/5x = 16?"</i>

Maybe.  It depends on whether 2/5x = 16 means *[tex \Large \frac{2}{5}x\ =\ 16] (the right way) or *[tex \Large \frac{2}{5x}\ =\ 16] (the wrong way).

(2/5)x = 16 translates to *[tex \Large \frac{2}{5}x\ =\ 16]

2/(5x) = 16 translates to *[tex \Large \frac{2}{5x}\ =\ 16]

But

2/5x = 16 is ambiguous.

Presuming you meant to write (2/5)x = 16, just multiply both sides by *[tex \Large \frac{5}{2}] to solve.

*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
