Question 358053
You would have to get all the variables on one side of the equal sign and all the constants on the other.

So:

3w+2=w-4

Then you subtract w on both sides so:

(3w-w)+2=(w-w)-4

Then simplify the w's (the ones on the right side of the equal sign cancel out):

2w+2=-4

Then subtract 2 on each side:

2w+(2-2)=(-4-2)

Then 2's on the left side of the equal sign cancel out and -4-2 is -6 so:

2w=-6

Then divide each side by 2 so x is by itself (-6 divided by 2 is -3)

w=-3
