Question 36252
6x+2y is a binomial (that is, has 2 terms). More accurately, it is a bivariate binomial of degree 1. A monomial is any polynomial with only 1 term, a binomial is a polynomial with 2 terms, trinomial 3 terms, etc. The polynomial {{{p(x) = 3x^2yz + 5xy-4x^2y^3}}}, for example, is a trinomial in 3 variables of degree 5 (The highest sum of the powers appearing in any term of the polynomial.)
