Question 351433
Few examples of the distributive property:
-
{{{3(x-5)= 3x-15}}} <--- You multiply the terms inside the parentheses by the term outside.
-
{{{3x(-(1/3)x+5)= -x^2+15x}}} <--- You multiply the terms inside the parentheses by the term outside.
-
{{{3(5-6)=-3}}} <--- Two ways to do this one. You can either do the operation inside the parentheses first or multiply the numbers out and then do the operation. Either {{{15-18 = -3}}} (after distribution) or {{{3(-1)=-3}}} operation inside parentheses before distribution.
-
Hope this helps to clarify the distributive property somewhat.
