Question 346661
"Ihave to find the equation of a slope in my home, place of employment or car for an algebra assignment. I have chosen to use the screen of my laptop.
This is what i have come up with. Could you please tell me if I am doing it right?
M=y2-y1/x2-x1
y2= -3
y1= 1
x2= 6
x1= 4
therefore M= -3-1/6-4
M= -4/2 = -2
the slope would be - 2
Thank you for your  assistance.
Tracy"

equation of a line in slope-intercept form, y = mx + b, where
m is the slope and b is the y-intercept (vertical-intercept or point (0,b))

finding slope m:
m = rise/run = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)
y2 = -3, y1 = 1, x2 = 6, x1 = 4
plug in values:
m = (-3 - 1)/(6 - 4)
m = -4/2
m = -2

yes you did it right
