Question 341491
The Richter scale. the Richter magnitude m of an earthquake is given in the formula m = A/A(base 0) A is the maximum amplitude of the earthquake and A (base 0) is the constant. What is the amplitude at a million time A (base 0)? I am stumped I answered this question incorrectly and want to find the correct way to solve this problem. thank-you.
------
I think the formula is m = log10[A/Ao]
----
Your Problem:
m = log10[10^6*Ao/Ao]
---
m = log10[10^6]
m = 6 on the Richter scale
