Question 38939
If we can see that 1 is a root of
x^3 - 4x^2 + 2x + 1 = 0
we can factor out x - 1 and get
(x - 1)(x^2 - 3x - 1) = 0
Using the quadratic formula on the second polynomial, we get
x = (3 ± sqrt(13)) / 2 in addition to x = 1
