Question 339394
How do you use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance between the pair of points A(0,0), B(6,8) ?
-------------
Plot the points.
Connect A and B. That is the distance you want.
Draw a vertical line from (6,8) down to the horizontal axis at (6,0)
Do you see the right triangle you have formed?
-------------------
Pythagoras says:
d^2 = (change in x)^2 + (change in y)^2
-----
d^2 = (6-0)^2 + (8-0)^2
---
d = sqrt[36 + 64]
d = sqrt[100]
d = 10
