Question 338221
"HI, please help me solve this. The answer is 16, but I keep getting 6. Thanks in advance.
2(t-1)/6 - 2 = t+2/6
I first multplied both sides by 6/1
and that left me with 2(t-1)-2=t+2
then distributed,
2t-2-2=t+2
then add 4 to both sides
2t=t+6
then subtract t from both sides
t=6
Im doing something wrong in the first step i think.. "

(2(t - 1))/6 - 2 = (t + 2)/6  (this is the problem right?)
multiply both sides by 6, since all operations done to one side,
must be done on the other
2(t - 1) - 2 * 6 = t + 2
simplify
2(t - 1) - 12 = t + 2
add 12 to both sides
2(t - 1) = t + 14
disribute the 2
2t - 2 = t + 14
add 2 to both sides
2t = t + 16
subtract t from both sides
t = 16

hope this helps
