1) Any irrational value for y will result in an irrational result.
2) No value fro y will result in a rational number (that I can see). If one could find a value for y that resulted in {{{y^2-y = 6e}}}, then that would work. Otherwise, e is irrational, subtracting that from anything that isn't exactly 6e seems to me to end up being irrational
