Question 335983
{{{2*abs(x+7)=14}}} Start with the given equation

{{{abs(x+7)=7}}} Divide both sides by 2

Break up the absolute value (remember, if you have {{{abs(x)=a}}}, then {{{x=-a}}} or {{{x=a}}})

{{{x+7=-7}}} or {{{x+7=7}}} Set the expression {{{x+7}}} equal to the original value 7 and it's opposite -7

Now lets focus on the first equation  {{{x+7=-7}}}

{{{x=-7-7}}}Subtract 7 from both sides

{{{x=-14}}} Combine like terms on the right side

<hr>

Now lets focus on the second equation {{{x+7=7}}}

{{{x=7-7}}}Subtract 7 from both sides

{{{x=0}}} Combine like terms on the right side

So the solutions to {{{2*abs(x+7)=14}}} are:

{{{x=-14}}} and {{{x=0}}}
