Question 335949
"the average of integers a and b is 12" means that {{{(a+b)/2=12}}}. Multiply both sides by 2 to get {{{a+b=24}}}

The average of 'a', 'b', and 'c' is {{{(a+b+c)/3}}}. But we know that {{{a+b=24}}} and {{{c=3}}}. So we know that {{{(highlight(a+b)+highlight_green(c))/3=(highlight(24)+highlight_green(3))/3=(24+3)/3=27/3=9}}}

So the average of 'a', 'b' and 'c' is 9.
