Question 36674
Hello,
Well in order to do this problem you must know the Formula. which is {{{a^2 + b^2 = c^2}}}
Now we can plug in the numbers:
{{{8^2 + 5^2 = c^2}}}
Now Square a & b:
{{{8^2=64}}} {{{5^2=25}}}
You are now left with:
 {{{64+25=c^2}}}
Add the numbers and you are left with:
{{{89=c^2}}}
now you must get the square root of 89

{{{sqrt(89)=9.43}}}
<b>(remember to round your number to the nearest tenth or hundredth's place in other words keep it to 1 0r 2 digits after the decimal)</b>
So, c=9.43
<p>
To check your answer rewrite the equation:
{{{8^2+5^2=9.43^2}}}
Now Square all the numbers:
64+25=88.9249
(round 88.9249 to 89)
89=89
<p>
