Question 38100
y = -x + 2
y = -x - 5
First lets put this in standard form by moving the x to the left side of the equation as a positive...
x + y = 2
x + y = -5
Already we can see how this may turn out, but lets continue on...
Multiply the first set by a -1 in order to set up the elimination process.
-1(x + y = 2)
Now distribute...
-x - y = -2
x  + y = -5
Now perform the indicated operations...
-x + x = 0
-y + y = 0
-2 -5 = -7
so this reads...
0 + 0 = -7
or
0 = -7
This is not possible so...
There is no solution to this system. The answer is C.
I hope this helps...
Good Luck!
