Question 328052
First calculate {{{log(3,9)=y}}} by converting to exponential notation: {{{3^y=9}}}, so {{{y =2}}}

Now, you need to find {{{log(x,log(3,9))=2}}}

You need to solve for x in this equation:
{{{log(x,2)=2}}}

Translate to exponential notation:
{{{x^2=2}}}, so {{{x= sqrt(2)}}}, which is approximately 1.414.

I JUST LOVE LOGARITHMS--and I have a complete explanation in both written and video format. For additional help with Logarithms, please see my own website. Click on my tutorname "rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com. Once you find my Homepage, look for "Basic, Intermediate, and College Algebra: One Step at a Time". There you will find my own user-friendly explanation for just about all the topics in algebra. Choose "College Algebra", then look in "Chapter 4".

Many of my exercises in this chapter are solved in the "MATH IN LIVING COLOR" sections that go with this. There you will find an explanation that will probably be a lot easier to understand than your own expensive textbooks!!
