*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{-2x\ -\ 8}{x^2\ +\ 2x\ -\ 8}]

Factor a *[tex \Large -2] out of the numerator binomial and factor the quadratic denominator.

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{-2(x\ +\ 4)}{(x\ -\ 2)(x\ +\ 4)}]

Eliminate factors common to both numerator and denominator:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{-2}{x\ -\ 2}]

And that should be sufficient. However if the minus sign in the numerator is aesthetically unpleasing, multiply by *[tex \Large \frac{-1}{-1}]

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{2}{2\ -\ x}]
