Question 36448
I am assuming that they want you to select two values of x, find the values of f(x) for each of these values of x, plot the points on a graph with a verbal description, and graph the result. Am I right???

First select two points, for x, ANY points that you want to plot. Let's pick the EASIEST points I can think of x = 0 and x =1.

f (x) = -2x – 5			(0    ,    )   ( 1   ,    )

If x = 0, then f(0) = -2(0)-5= -5.  This means the point is (0,-5)
If x = 1, then f(1) = -2(1)-5=-7.  This means the point is (1,-7)

State in words exactly where the points should be located. Since a set of coordinates is ( 0,-5) you would say : From the origin count 0 spaces to the right on the x axis, then down 5 spaces and plot the point (0,-5).

Next, the set of coordinates is (1,-7), so you would say: From the origin count 1 space to the right, then down 7 spaces, and plot the point (1, -7).

Now, connect the dots, and see if the graph agrees with this:

{{{graph (300, 300, -6, 6, -8, 6, -2x-5)}}}
