Question 36427
The tension T on a cable varies directly as the cube of its surface S, and inversely as the square of its length L. If T=1 when S=2 and L=3, find T for S=4 and L=5/6..

tension = k(S^3)/L^2
Need to find "k"
1=k(8)/9
k=72
Equation is now T=72(S^3)/L^2
Find T is S=4 and L=(5/6)
T=72(4^3)/(5/6)^2
T=72(64)/[(25/36)]
T=3200
