Question 36076
A paleontonlogist finds a bone that has 25% of the amount of carbon-14 found in living b tissue. How old is the bone?

Half-life of carbon-14 is 5700 years.
Let "x" be the original amount of carbon-14 in the bone.
EQUATION:
(1/4)x=x(1/2)^(t/5700)
1/4= (1/2)^(t/5700)
(1/2)^2= (1/2)^(t/5700)
2=t/5700
t = 11400 years.
