Question 307530
When you square anything you multiply that thing by itself!
For example:
{{{5^2 = 5*5}}}
{{{a*a = a^2}}}
{{{ft*ft = ft^2}}}
{{{in*in = in^2}}}
The exponent rule is when multiplying things that have the same base, you add the exponents.
{{{a^1*a^1 = a^((1+1))}}}={{{a^2}}} Here, a is the base.
{{{7^2*7^3 = 7^((2+3))}}} = {{{7^5 = 16807}}} Here, 7 is the base.
However:
{{{6^2*8^3 <> (6*8)^5}}} Because the bases (6 & 8) are not the same.
