Question 299232
A computer virus is eating disk space. During the first day it eats 1/2 of the disk.During the second day, it eats 1/3 of the remaining disk space. The third day it eats 1/4 of what still remains and the fourth day it eats 1/5 of what is left. What fraction of the original disk space remains intact?
<p>
another hectic fraction problem try to stay with me
D= original disk space
1st {{{(1/2)D}}} which leaves {{{(1/2)D}}} remaining
2nd {{{(1/3)((1/2)D)=(1/6)D}}} so then {{{(1/2)D-(1/6)D=(1/3)D}}} remaining
3rd {{{(1/4)((1/3)D)=(1/12)D}}} so then {{{(1/3)D-(1/12)D=(1/4)D}}} remaining
4th {{{(1/5)((1/4)D)=(1/20)D}}} so then {{{(1/4)D-(1/20)D=(1/5)D}}} remaining
so {{{1/5}}}of the original disk space is left
