Question 35479
Start by dividing both sides by 2:

{{{x^2 +y^2 -6x +4y-12 = 0}}}

Next, add +12 to each side, group the x terms and y terms together, and prepare to complete the square:
{{{x^2 - 6x + ____+y^2 +4y+_____= 12 +_____+_____}}}

To complete the square, you must take half of the x and y coefficients, respectively, and square. Add that number to both sides on the blank lines that I provided.

{{{x^2 - 6x + 9  +y^2 +4y+4= 12 +9+4}}}

{{{ (x-3)^2 + (y+2)^2 = 25}}}

This is a circle, with center at (3,-2) and of radius 5. Can you draw the graph?

{{{graph (300,300, -8,10, -8,10, -2+sqrt(25-(x-3)^2), -2-sqrt(25-(x-3)^2))}}}
