Question 294596
{{{-3sqrt(3)-sqrt(12)}}}
First leave {{{-3sqrt(3)}}} alone for now. The goal in this problem is to get the numbers under the radican to be the same. {{{sqrt(12)}}} can be broken down into {{{sqrt(4x3)}}}. 4 is a perfect square, the square root of 4 is 2. The 2 comes out of the radican and the 3 under the radican stays there because 3 is not a perfect square. The {{{sqrt(12)}}} is now {{{2sqrt(3)}}}. Now we have the problem {{{-3sqrt(3)-2sqrt(3)}}}. Since the numbers under the radican are the same we can subtract {{{-3-2}}} and keep {{{sqrt(3)}}}, {{{-3-2=-5}}}. The answer is: {{{-5sqrt(3)}}}.
