Question 294530
how do i simplify x^2 over x+2 multiplies by x^2-5x-14 over x^2+2x so far i did this
-7 multiplied by 2 gives me a negative 14 and when added gives me -5 so i did (x-7) (x+2)
:
{{{x^2/((x+2))}}} * {{{(x^2-5x-14)/(x^2+2x)}}}
After you factor x^2-5x-14 you can also factor x^2+2
{{{x^2/((x+2))}}} * {{{((x+2)(x-7))/x(x+2)}}}
(x+2) cancels and x cancels into x^2, resulting in:
{{{x/((x+2))}}} * {{{(x-7))}}} = {{{(x(x-7))/((x+2))}}}
