Question 4557
Again, I am assuming that "log" refers to log "base 10."

{{{log (10, 8) - log (10, x) = 2}}}
{{{log (10, (8/x)) = 2}}}

Translate back into exponential notation:
{{{10^2 = 8/x }}}

{{{100 = 8/x}}}

Multiply both sides by x:

{{{100x = 8}}}

Divide both sides by 100:
{{{x = 8/100}}} = {{{2/25 }}} or 0.08

You can check by substituting the value of x=0.08 into a calculator. Surprise--it works!!
