Question 23901
Draw the normal curve putting 1650 at the mean; sigma=175 and
label the horizontal axis as "x".
You want to find Prob(1300<x<2000)
Either use a TI-83 calculator to find this directly
or convert the 1300 and the 2000 to "z-scores", as follows:
z(1300)=[1300=1650]/175= -2
z(2000)=[2000-1650]/175= +2
Now your problem becomes Prob(-1<z<2)= ?
Use your z-chart to find Prob(0<z<2) and double it.
I get an answer of 2*0.47725=0.9545~ 95.5%
So the Probability you are looking for is approx. 95.5%
