Question 286894
Hello,
Since we know volume = width times length times height let's have "x" be the width. Therefore the equation will be:
x(x+5)27=4050 Expand this out to:
27x^2+135x=4050 Subtract 4050 from both sides to get:
27x^2+135x-4050=0 Take 27 out to be:
27(x^2+5x-150)=0 Factor this to get:
27(x-10)(x+15)=0 solve x:
x=10
x=-15
x=10 is the only reasonable answer so the answer is:
10 inches for the width and you can now get how high it is.
Make sense?
