When you say "find each value and my book gives me {{{f(2/5)}}}" do you mean that you want to find what {{{f(x)=5x+1}}} is when {{{x=2/5}}}?  Then your answer is 
{{{5 *x +1}}}
Replace x with 2/5 
It becomes {{{5*(2/5) +1}}}.
{{{(5*2)/5 +1}}}
{{{10/5 +1}}}
{{{2+1=3}}}
Thus, your answer is 3
