Question 278113
In problems like these, you want to find out what the MANHOURS are, or, what the MANDAYS are. You do this by multiplying the number of men (or women) on the job by the number of minutes, hours or days to do the job. Here our units are hours, SO, we are dealing with MANHOURS. 5 men take 3 hours to do a job.
THE MANHOURS ARE 15 MANHOURS. Now we have less men that are going to do the same job--it will take them longer--no brainer. How much longer? Divide the MANHOURS by the new number of men on the job. So, we divide 15 MANHOURS by 3 men, leaving you with the longer time of 5 hours. It will take three men five hours to do the same job it took 5 men to do in three hours. I did not mean to be verbose, or wordy, but I wanted to spell things out for you. This is my very first time here. Was I clear? Thanks!
