Question 273335
point(-2,1) is // to  y=-3x+1
y=mx+b where m=slope and b=y-intercept
since the dot on a line is paralell to y=-3x+1 they have the same slope.
the slope is -3/1 as shown so on the graph u would go down 3 and to the right 1 from the point (-2,1) which is x+1,y-3= (-1,-2) but to make the equation u use the slope formula {{{(y-y)/(x-x)=m}}}
{{{(y-1)/(x--2)=-3/1}}}fix signs and use the first point
{{{((y-1)/(x+2))(x+2)=-3(x+2)}}}multiply
{{{y-1=-3x-6}}}add
{{{highlight(y=-3x-5)}}}
___________________
Checking, plug in the second point i found out earlier (-1,-2)
{{{y=-3x-5}}}
{{{-2=-3(-1)-5}}}
{{{-2=3-5}}}
{{{-2=-2}}}
Correct
