Question 272943
ok this place is all about showing work which means dont do half of the problem, maybe they might get as far as one shows and then doesnt know where to go from there, so we as tutors need to show all work.

{{{A^2+B^2=C^2}}} C=hypotnuse C=17 A=x B=x+7
{{{(x)^2+(x+7)^2=(17)^2}}}
{{{x^2+x^2+14x+49=289}}}
{{{2x^2+14x-240=0}}}
{{{2(x^2+7x-120)=0}}} find two numbers when multiplied together get -120 and added together get +7. those are (-8 and 15)
{{{x+15=0}}} and {{{x-8=0}}}
{{{x=-15}}} and {{{x=8}}} since a triangle cant have -length {{{highlight(x=8)}}}
Side A = {{{highlight(8)}}} Side B = {{{highlight(15)}}}
