Question 272633
Two sides of a triangle have the same length. The third side measures 2 m less than twice the common length. The perimeter of the triangle is 18 m. What are the lengths of the three sides?

Let the equal length sides be x

Third side measures 2 m less than twice the common length

2x-2

x+x+2x-2=18

4x-2=18

4x=20

x=20/4

x=5 meters

The third side will be 8. Since the perimeter is 18

5+5+8 =18
