Let x be the length of a square.  The perimeter of a square is 4x. The area of the square would be x squared.

So the equation would be : 4x=x squared +3
so x squared -4x+3 is now a quadratic.
      (x-1)(x-3) 
There are two answers to this problem. 1 and 3.
