Question 267386
Hello,
We can set up two different equations and solve. Let x be one number and y be another so we'll have these two equations:
x-y=37
x=6y-3
We can now plug the second equation into the first like this:
(6y-3)-y=37 Combine like terms and add 3 to both sides to get:
5y=40 Divide each side by 5 to result in:
y=8 This is the smaller number
x=45
Now plug these numbers into the equations above to see if it works.
Make sense?
