An employee benefits consulting firm has just completed a survey of the health plans offered by employess in a particular state. among the findings are the following:
40% of employers offer no health insurance to their employess at all;
10% offer only HMO;
20% offer only a traditional reiembursement plan;
25% offer a POS plan;
10% offer both an HMO and a traditional reimbursement plan;
10% offer both a pos plan and a traditional plan; and
5% offer all three types pf plans.
Moreover, of employers who offer an HMO to their employees, 60% offer another type of plan as well.
-------------------------------------------
a. What fraction of employers offer only a POS plan?
d. What fraction of employers offer their employees a choice of health plans?
I was able to figure out b & c. So if you can help me with a & d that will be great.
------------------
Procedure:
Draw three intersecting circles; label them HMO, Pos, and Trad
Since 5% offer all three, put a 5 in the intersection of the three circles.
Since 10% offer a Pos and a Trad, put a 5 in the part of Pos/Trad that is
not in Pos/Trad/Hmo
Since HMO/Trad has 10%, put a 5 in the part of HMO/Trad that is not in
Pos/Trad/Hmo
Since P = 25%, put a 15 in the area of Pos that is not in an intersection.
Continue till you have satisfied each of the stated requirements.
----
Then answer a,b,c,d based on your figures.
