Question 266238
the quotient is x^2-x-2 and the remainder is -11

the procedure is just do like simple division of numbers

in the quotient take such that the highest power of x is obtained

like for the first term we should get x^3 so we have to multiply by x^2 then subtract and carry over the remaining terms just as in how you do division of numbers

for getting the remainder we can also use the remainder theorem

it says when a function f(x) is divided by (x-a) the remainder is given by f(a)

so here the remainder will be f(5) that is 125-150+15-1 = -11
