Question 264733
Any 2 lines that are parallel have the same slope.
The 1st line, {{{y = 2x + 1}}}, is in the form
{{{y = mx + b}}},
where {{{m}}} is the slope, so
the slope of both lines must be {{{2}}}
given:
Line 2 goes through (0,-2)
I can plug this (x,y) into {{{y = mx + b}}}, {{{m = 2}}}
and I can find {{{b}}}
{{{-2 = 2*0 + b}}}
{{{b = -2}}}
Now I know line 2 is {{{y = 2x - 2}}}
Now I can find (x,0)
{{{0 = 2x - 2}}}
{{{2x = 2}}}
{{{x = 1}}}
So the point asked for is P(1,0)
