Question 32861
Let the length of the rectangular room be denoted as L ft
Let the width(breadth) of the rectangular room be denoted as B ft
Given Length of the room is 5 ft more than 3 times the Width
SO L = 5+3B
Also Given Perimeter P  = 62 ft

The perimeter of a rectangle is the distance around the outside of the rectangle.

So the perimeter of the rectangle is 2(L+B)

2(L+B) = 62
2(5+3B+B) = 62 (replacing the value of L)
2(5+4B) = 62
5+4B = 62/2
5+4B = 31
4B = 31 - 5 = 26
B = 26/4 = 6.5 ft
L = 5 + 3(6.5)
L = 24.5 ft

So the dimensions of the room are L = 24.5 ft and Width of the room is 6.5 ft
