Question 259939
I am wondering what the parentheses mean around a number i.e. -14+(-23) when the answer would be the same if done both ways i.e -23+-14= -37 / -14+-23= -37
--------------
That parentheses is making sure you see that 23 is negative 23.
-14+(-23) would be described as a addition problem.
---
It could just as well have been written as -14-23 = -37
This statement would be described as a subtraction problem.
In either case, the results are the same.
