Question 258008
Remember the "slope-intercept" form of a linear equation?
{{{y = mx+b}}} where m = slope and b = y-intercept.
Rewrite your equation so that it's in the "slope-intercept" form.
{{{8x-y = 72}}} Add y to both sides of the equation.
{{{8x = y+72}}} Now subtract 72 from both sides.
{{{8x-72 = y}}} or...
{{{y = 8x-72}}} compare this with the general "slope-intercept" form...
{{{y = mx+b}}} and you can see that the slope {{{highlight(m =8)}}} and the y-intercept {{{b = -72}}}
