Question 254931
ok the problem is 5/x is >= -1
i'm not sure how the book got the graph to long how it does
i only get one section that is shaded and they have two
-----------------------
Since "x" is a variable you don't know whether it is
positive or negative.
---
If x>0 you get: 5/x >= -1
5 >= -x
x >= -5
But x>0, so the graph is the half-plane to the right of x = 0
---------------
But if x<0 you get 5/x >= -1
5<=-x
x <= -5
So this part of the graph is the half-plane to the left of x = -5
